Haukur Snorrason’s photography books
Land of Light
Land of Light (Land Birtunnar) was published 1999 and is Haukur’s first book of photographs. After multiple excursions around Iceland in all seasons by jeep, his airplane and by foot, in order to build up his Iceland image bank, it was time to select the best and make a grand book. This coffee table book was published in 5 different languages. The texts were written by the renowned professor of geophysics, Magnús Tumi Guðmundsson and the foreword by Iceland‘s president, Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson. Photographs in this book were mainly taken on a Pentax 6×7 and Fuji GX 6×17 Panorama, but also a Nikon FM2 and a Hasselblad were used. The primary film used was Fuji Velvia 50. The book is 132 pages with 88 photographs. It presents first and foremost Iceland´s landscape and countryside, going clockwise around the island. It is now sold out but is on display at the Hrifunes Guesthouse.
